The ISMA Women in Medicine Annual Retreat was a lovely weekend spent reflecting on our careers, learning negotiating pearls, and sharing words of wisdom with all in attendance. We enjoyed the company of our peers and delicious food in a classy venue at the Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, Indiana.
Our fearless leader, Dr. Jane Bridges, gathered together a dream team of speakers including the founder of the Women Physicians Wellness Conference along with a few of our top Indiana women physician and PsyD educators to lead us in an educational experience. We were taken on a “choose your own adventure” career reframing discussion, learned negotiating skills with the focus on avoiding our emotional basement, and discussed our professional identity formation as it pertains to women.
Over a nutritious and delectable luncheon in the cozy Feinstein’s at the Carmichael, we were surprised with delightful entertainment by the talented Crooked Finger Rhythm Revue. The accomplished lead singer and songwriter, Dr. Nicolas Zygromski shared relatable stories from his experiences as a caregiver while accompanied by another Indiana physician leader, Dr. David Aronoff on the drums.
We concluded our dinner together with highlights of the ISMA experience from prior ISMA presidents in attendance. Overall it was an enjoyable and educational experience.
